"The Case of On-Time Delivery"
The sweet sound of foot traffic filled my showroom. Most of it admiring the California Faucets display. With over 25 styles in more than 30 finishes, who could blame them? Apparently, one man.Harry Handle. He was unimpressed.
Handle was hot. He had ordered another brand of faucet from me over two months ago and it still hadn’t arrived. This despite the manufacturer’s promise to deliver in two weeks. They had left Handle twisting. At the time, I had recommended California Faucets, but Handle wouldn’t listen. And now he was one cross Handle.
I wasn’t worried. If anybody could handle Handle, it was me. I could feel his pain. Or maybe it was the 300 pound lady that had just stepped on my foot on her way to fondle the new California Faucets Avalon single lever faucet display.
I suggested a simple solution. Cancel his order and replace it with one from California Faucets. But Harry wasn’t convinced. Doubt was gripping Handle. I persisted, explaining that the company was known for its on-time delivery. Handle started to loosen up. “You mean, when they say a week, they really mean a week?”
I smiled and grabbed Handle firmly. Looked him right in the eye. “Or earlier,” I added. Handle froze. He’d never heard of such a thing. Suffice it to say, he made the exchange and received the faucet, a Coronado in satin nickel. Ahead of schedule.
The following week, Handle called to thank me. I told him that’s what I’m here for. Like any customer of fine fittings, Handle deserved a good turn.
