"The Big Finish"
When it came to disagreeing, Victor and Valerie Valve were like the California Faucets Solana in polished 24k gold. Top of the line. The Valves were complete opposites. Hot and Cold. Open and Shut. Clogged and Free-flowing. Okay, that last one was a stretch, but give me a break. I’m just a humble showroom manager. Not Charles Dickens.
I had just spent the last two hours getting the two Valves to agree on a faucet. Mrs. Valve wanted the timelessly classic Del Mar. Hubby wanted the sleekly modern Avalon. Feeling the Valves’ pressure rising, I convinced them to meet halfway with the Catalina. With its Art Deco flavor accented by contemporary three point handles, how could they not?
Of course, they still had to decide on a finish. It was almost five. I cancelled my dinner plans. Valerie wanted matte black. Victor insisted on polished nickel. Tempers flared as neither would budge. The Valves were about blow.
As usual, I paused for dramatic effect before saving the day. I may just be a humble showroom manager, but I love good drama. Besides, why rush? My dinner plans were kaput.
I offered a perfect solution. One worthy of King Solomon. Actually, better. It didn’t involve cutting a baby in half. I recommended they consider split finish.
“You mean like matte black handles and spout but with polished nickel accents?” Valerie asked. I was impressed. She was smart. So smart I almost gave Valve a job.
Victor shook my hand. “You’re the best, Sam,” he said. I couldn’t argue. The Valves were now in sync. They could have their faucet and finish too. That’s better than cake. Except maybe a chocolate in the shape of a Hermosa Roman Tub Spout with a candy lift knob. But that’s just me.
My name is Spout. I run a showroom and I like to specify California Faucets. Because quality product, customer service and unparalleled on-time delivery matter.
